Carrier IQ tracking Android phones: the story so far | The Verge
Carrier IQ provides telemetry to cellular carriers and manufacturers, and according to the company itself, its software is pre-installed on over 141 million phones. Now, a security researcher claims that the same software is monitoring every single key you press on your smartphone, reading your SMS, and logging much of the personal data you transmit, too — all with an app that you can’t remove.
Beware of Big Brother
Endorsements are a big deal.
People running for POTUS rely heavily on political endorsements to help sway public opinion in their favor and political policies are no different.
Former Surgeon General Jocelyn Enders call for legalization is one thing but for a former head of the state’s FBI division to join the ranks of marijuana legalization is quite significant.
All we need now are less “former” and more “current” officials to initiate a top-down approach with ending the failed prohibition of marijuana.
This topic, which Obama deemed laughable, may very well have compromised his own views if embraced by certain members of the GOP seeking to remove him from office.
Especially considering we are nearing a democratic majority to favor legalization.

“Despite the president’s flippant comments today, the grievous harms of marijuana prohibition are no laughing matter. Certainly, the 800,000 people arrested last year on marijuana charges find nothing funny about it, nor do the millions of Americans struggling in this sluggish economy. It would be an enormous economic stimulus if we stopped wasting so much money arresting and locking people up for nonviolent drug offenses and instead brought in new tax revenue from legal sales, just as we did when ended alcohol prohibition 75 years ago during the Great Depression.”
